Arabella Tanyel, creator of The Sloth in You, holding the book and smiling

Hello and welcome

I’m Arabella, the creator of The Sloth in You, and I’m so happy you’re here.

Whether you’re just having a little browse, getting to know the story, or supporting the project by purchasing the book — it truly means the world to me.

This book has been three years in the making. A real labour of love, completed in true sloth-like fashion. Slow and steady (ish).

It all began during lockdown, when the world hit pause and I—like so many others—was trying to stay connected. One afternoon, Laura and I sat down and wrote a fun little poem about a sloth named Atticus. He went through ups and downs, struggling with the isolation… a bit like us, really.

What started as a playful escape soon became something bigger. First a video was created, breathing life and charm into the story. And then the idea was born: To create a book where every verse is interpreted and illustrated by a different friend.

So that’s what I set out to do. I reached out to people I love and admire — scattered across the world — and asked each one to illustrate a verse. No rules. No expectations. Just creative freedom and expression. And every single one of them poured their heart into it.

To the contributors who gave their time and talent — thank you from the bottom of my heart. You brought this story to life in ways I couldn’t have imagined. You reminded me how powerful collaboration can be and made the process just as magical as the final product.

This isn’t just a book. It’s a celebration of friendship, creativity, and what happens when we give ourselves permission to slow down and find joy in the little things.

Now it’s finally here. In your hands. On your screen. Out in the world.

Thank you for being part of the journey — whether you're reading, sharing, or just passing by with a smile. I hope The Sloth in You makes you laugh, reflect, and maybe even inspires you to connect and create with others.

With love, gratitude, and a very slow hug,
